Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is spreading through enterprises as it enables the agility sought by global organizations. These solutions have saved time and money, which will eventually lead to higher profits from products and services. Cloud technology helps in fulfilling this aspect to a great extent by dynamically adapting to the requirements of your business processes. It does not require you to install any hardware or software on your end, but rather access the services as utility.

Cloud computing has fundamentally altered the way software is delivered. Software Vendors are focusing on how to position their products as a service. Before deciding to offer traditional license mode, pure Software as a Service (SaaS) mode, or a dual mode, the software vendor must factor in product readiness considering the existing and prospective user base, as well as new investments that must be made to achieve the desired delivery mechanism. The software vendor should also understand the competitive price points for the products offered through different delivery mechanisms. It is also important to factor in investment for scalability in the SaaS model since customers expect on-demand additional resources during their peak consumption periods.

The services in this technology are usually based on three models :

Software as a Service (SaaS): This model is simply aimed at providing use of software applications without having to install them at the client’s end. The user can simply access it from their end and need not worry about any maintenance or updating of the software.

Platform as a Service (PaaS): A computing platform is provided in this type of model for development of solutions and applications for different purposes. The developers will not need to install any high-end hardware at their end, but will rather have access to the services from there only. It can also be used to provide software development services to clients as well.

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS): In this model, the services are provided through a virtual machine like server, which hosts all the solutions on some remotely located data centres. The services provided in this way are charged like the other utility services, that is, you have to pay only for the time you are using the services.

We strongly believe that with this technology, the world is going to a change in the way Information Technology services are being provided to the industries. It will make the services more affordable, highly compatible with different environments and having increased standards
